Hidden Gem in Colomars: Auberge du Rédier Near Nice & Monaco

There are some places you stumble upon that feel like they should stay secret.
Auberge du Rédier in Colomars, a charming hilltop village near Nice, is one of them.

We had so much fun staying here that I actually forgot to take proper photos!
But thankfully—I took tons of videos. 🎥✨
So most of the photos you’ll see in this post are actually screenshots from those videos. And as I looked through them, I had this little realization:

“Oh my… this place was so beautiful, I wish I had taken more photos!”

But maybe that’s what made it so special.
We were living in the moment.

Why We Loved It

This hotel is such a gem—peaceful, beautiful, and perfectly located for exploring not just the French Riviera, but even Monaco and Italy!

  • We stayed in the best room in the house with a spacious balcony overlooking the hills and the pool.
  • My husband and daughter absolutely loved the pool area—relaxing, quiet, and family-friendly.
  • We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Céline Bres and Robin Marin—a hardworking, hands-on couple from the region who spent years in Hong Kong before returning to run this charming inn.

The Location

Auberge du Rédier is located in Colomars, perched between the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps.
It feels like a peaceful countryside retreat, but with access to all the highlights of the region.

🌍 Day Trip Possibilities:

  • Nice – 20–25 minutes
  • Villefranche-sur-Mer – 30 minutes
  • Monaco – 40–45 minutes
  • Menton – 50 minutes
  • San Remo, Italy – 1 hour

Yes—you can technically explore 3 countries in one day from this hotel: France, Monaco, and Italy! 🇫🇷🇲🇨🇮🇹

Getting There & Moving Around

  • By Car: You’ll need a rental car to truly enjoy this location. The hotel is up in the hills, so…
    • Avoid arriving too late at night unless you’re confident driving mountain roads.
    • It’s manageable during the day, but can feel tricky in the dark if you’re not used to hill driving.
  • By Plane: Fly into Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, then drive about 30–35 minutes to Colomars.
  • Parking: Free on-site parking is available and super convenient.

Tips

  • Best Room: Ask for the balcony room overlooking the pool and hills—it’s 100% worth it.
  • Pack Snacks: There aren’t many shops nearby, so we packed snacks and had some cozy balcony nights.
  • Pool Time: Set aside time to just relax at the pool—you’ll want it after sightseeing in Nice or Monaco, especially during summer.
  • Plan Your Drives: Do the sightseeing during the day and plan to be back before dark, especially if you’re not familiar with winding roads.

Final Reflections

If you’re heading to the French Riviera, I can’t recommend Auberge du Rédier enough. It’s:

  • Family-run
  • Well-priced
  • They have a beautiful restaurant! I noticed that people are also booking it as a wedding reception! 🙂
  • Peacefully tucked away from the tourist rush
  • But still close enough to Nice, Monaco, and even Italy to explore with ease.
